Why Hand Delivery Works

Direct hand delivery reduces waste, increases engagement, and ensures your message reaches real households.

Hand delivery is a proven method for maximising the effectiveness of your direct mail and door drop campaigns. Unlike bulk distribution or unmonitored drops, hand-delivered leaflets offer several clear advantages:

Precision Targeting

Each leaflet is delivered personally to the households you specify, ensuring that your campaign reaches the right audience every time. Avoid wasted materials and missed addresses by using hand distribution to cover only your target areas.

Higher Engagement

Hand-delivered materials are more likely to be noticed, opened, and read than generic or bundled mail drops. Recipients perceive hand-delivered leaflets as professional and relevant, increasing the impact of your campaign.

Full Reporting

iPrintPost provides detailed tracking and reporting for every campaign. You can see exactly where and when deliveries were made, giving confidence for planning, compliance, and auditing purposes.

Flexible & Adaptable

If your campaign area changes due to consultation updates, new project boundaries, or urgent adjustments, we can redefine delivery zones post-submission without restarting the entire order. This flexibility saves time and ensures campaigns remain accurate and compliant.

Eco-Friendly Distribution

Hand delivery significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to bulk van or vehicle distribution. By using local delivery teams and optimising routes, your campaign is more environmentally responsible while still reaching the same households.

Ideal for Sensitive or Targeted Campaigns

Hand delivery is perfect for campaigns that require a personal touch, such as planning consultations, property marketing mailers, or stakeholder notifications. It’s a controlled, professional method that ensures your message is taken seriously.

How iPrintPost Manages Your Door Drop Campaigns

A fully managed, professional process from print to delivery, designed to save you time, reduce stress, and guarantee results.

At iPrintPost, we handle every step of your door drop and hand-distributed leaflet campaigns. Our approach ensures your campaign is accurate, accountable, and delivered on time, even when project boundaries change or urgent deadlines arise.

Step 1: Campaign Brief & Target Area Definition

Provide your campaign details, objectives, and delivery areas. We guide you in defining precise postcodes, neighborhoods, or radii to reach the right households efficiently.

  • Flexibility to refine target areas post-submission without restarting the campaign.

  • Ideal for planning consultations, property marketing, and local engagement campaigns.

Step 2: Print Production & Fulfilment

We handle professional printing for letters, leaflets, booklets, or postcards. Every item is carefully printed, folded, and prepared for delivery, ensuring high-quality presentation.

  • Options include single or double-sided leaflets, saddle-stitched booklets, trifold or roll fold leaflets, and postcards.

  • Professional handling reduces damage and protects your brand’s reputation.

Step 3: Hand Delivery by Trained Teams

Our local, trained distribution teams deliver each leaflet or mailer directly to households.

  • Same day or next day turnaround available for urgent campaigns.

  • Full accountability for each drop, ensuring all addresses in the target area are covered.

  • Reduces CO2 emissions compared to vehicle-only distribution methods.

Step 4: Reporting & Confirmation

Once delivery is complete, you receive full confirmation and reporting detailing where and when deliveries were made.

  • Supports planning compliance, public consultation audits, or internal client reporting.

  • Provides clear accountability for every stage of your campaign.

Step 5: Ongoing Flexibility

Campaign areas, boundaries, or quantities can be adjusted at any stage, saving time and avoiding wasted resources.

  • No need to resubmit the entire campaign if your project area changes.

  • Keeps campaigns accurate, compliant, and on schedule, even with last-minute adjustments.

This means fewer suppliers, fewer risks, and complete campaign control from one trusted provider.

We deliver to clearly defined areas, whether that’s postcode-based zones, radius targeting, or mapped consultation boundaries.

Our structured approach ensures:

  • Defined coverage areas

  • Clear delivery schedules

  • Reduced wastage

  • Greater accountability

For planning and consultation projects, this level of control is critical.

Ideal for High-Importance Campaigns

Our hand-delivered leaflet distribution services are particularly suited to:

  • Planning applications

  • Estate agent mailers

  • Property development marketing

  • Local business promotions

  • Stakeholder notifications

We can also supply recycled and responsibly sourced papers, allowing you to align your campaign with environmental commitments.

Artwork Guideline

FAQs

Will you check my artwork?

We carry out a basic pre-flight check to ensure:

  • Correct size

  • Bleed included

  • Resolution appears suitable

We do not proofread content or check spelling unless artwork services are requested.

What happens if my artwork is not set up correctly?

If we identify issues, we will contact you before printing. Minor fixes may incur an artwork charge.

Can you design or amend my artwork?

Yes – we offer a full in-house design and artwork service. Please contact us for a quotation.

Accepted Files

We recommend supplying artwork as a high-resolution, print-ready PDF (PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 preferred).

We also accept:

  • Adobe InDesign (.indd – packaged with fonts and links)

  • Adobe Illustrator (.ai – fonts outlined)

  • Adobe Photoshop (.psd – flattened where possible)

  • High-resolution TIFF or JPEG (300dpi at final size)

Microsoft Office files (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) can be accepted but may require additional artwork setup and cannot guarantee accurate colour reproduction.

Colour Mode

What colour mode should my artwork be supplied in?
All artwork must be supplied in CMYK colour mode, not RGB.

RGB is used for screens and will convert to CMYK for print, which may cause colour shifts. To ensure accurate results, convert your artwork to CMYK before submitting.

Profiles

Which colour profile should I use?
We recommend using:

  • Coated paper: FOGRA39 / ISO Coated v2

  • Uncoated paper: FOGRA29 / ISO Uncoated

If you are unsure, please contact us before exporting your file.

Will colours match exactly to my screen?
Printed colours will differ slightly from what you see on screen due to monitor calibration and colour space differences. For brand-critical work, we recommend supplying Pantone references, RALs, hard copy samples you’ve had previously or requesting a printed proof.

Bleed

Do I need to include bleed?
Yes. All artwork must include 5mm bleed on all sides.

This means any background colours, images, or design elements that run to the edge of the page must extend 5mm beyond the trim size.

What is a safe zone?
Keep all important text and logos at least 5mm – 10mm inside the trim edge to avoid risk of trimming variation.

Multi Page Documents

How should I supply multi-page artwork?

Please supply multi-page documents as a single PDF in page order, set up as individual pages (not spreads), unless specifically requested. We will

Include:

  • Correct page size

  • 3mm bleed on all pages

  • Consistent margins

  • Crop Marks

For stitched booklets, ensure page counts are divisible by 4.

Material Choice

Does paper choice affect artwork?
Yes. Different materials affect colour and finish:

  • Uncoated papers appear softer and slightly less vibrant.

  • Coated papers produce sharper detail and more vibrant colours.

  • Recycled stocks may slightly alter colour tone.

  • Large format materials may require higher resolution artwork.

If you need guidance selecting the right stock for your design, we’re happy to advise.

Text Size

What is the minimum readable text size?
As a general guide:

  • Standard print: Minimum 6pt

  • Reversed (white on colour): Minimum 7–8pt

  • Large format (viewed from distance): Text size should scale accordingly

Avoid very thin fonts below 7pt, as they may not reproduce clearly.

Accesibility

How can I make my artwork more accessible?

We recommend:

  • Strong colour contrast between text and background

  • Minimum 10–12pt body text where possible

  • Avoiding long passages in all caps

  • Not relying on colour alone to convey meaning

  • Clear, legible font choices

If your materials need to meet specific accessibility standards, please let us know.

QR Codes + Links

What size should QR codes be?
Minimum recommended size:

  • 20 x 20mm for standard print

  • Larger for posters or outdoor materials

Ensure strong contrast (black on white preferred).

Do I need to test my QR code?
Yes. Always test QR codes before submitting artwork. We can generate static QR codes for you. Ensure your QR code does not require a subscription to stay active.

Can I include clickable links?
Clickable links only function in digital PDFs. For print, ensure URLs are short and easy to type.

Images

What image resolution is required?

  • Standard print: 300ppi at final size

  • Large format: minimum 150ppi at final size

Low-resolution images (72ppi web images) will appear pixelated in print.

How can I check image resolution?
Check the effective resolution in your design software at 100% scale.

Vectors Vs Rasters

What is the difference between vector and raster artwork?

  • Vector graphics (logos, icons, text) are scalable without losing quality.

  • Raster images (photographs) are resolution dependent.

We strongly recommend supplying logos as vector files (AI, EPS, or outlined PDF) to ensure sharp reproduction at any size.
